Unicorn chasing
As some of you may or may not know, today Starbucks launched its limited time only Unicorn Frappuccino. I am no Starbucks fan, so when the buzz about this drink started going around social media I didn’t give it too much attention. Then the hype hit fever pitch last night, it seemed like everyone was talking about this drink. So, as someone who likes to be in the know and keep up with whats trendy, I decided I would try it.
Going in I had very low expectations for this drink. While I love anything pink with glitter, I wasn’t so sure how this was going to translate into a frozen drink. I would never know unless I tried it. I did set some boundaries, I was not going to pay more than $5 for this drink. I don’t love Starbucks like that, and I don’t need to be part of a “movement” that badly. Luckily Cory had an unused gift card for Starbucks that he gave to me. So now I really had nothing to lose. Off I went to get the Unicorn Frappuccino.
With all the hype, I thought Starbucks would be a madhouse. To my surprise the store was empty. I walked right up to the counter placed my order for a small unicorn Frap and waited. My drink was ready it’s the moment of truth, would the Unicorn Frap be good? I took my first sip and it wasn’t bad. It has a creamy citrusy flavor, kind of like an Orange Julius or cream-sickle. It is sweet, definitely more of a, but it wasn’t bad. The funky part is the glitter sprinkle topping, which was sour. The sprinkles tasted like the dust on sour patch kids candy. Overall it wasn’t bad, it was much better than I thought it would be. Is it worth $4.45 for a small not really. But, because it’s a limited time special edition drink it’s a fun splurge. I will not be returning for a second one. It was fun thing to try once. It’s nice to get out of my comfort zone every once in a while and try something new.
