Bloom where you are Planted
Spring has most definitely sprung! With the blooming flowers and tress, I am adopting a new philosophy. I am going to bloom where I am planted. What does that mean you might ask? Well it means for me,at least, I am going to stop waiting to have the “perfect” home, body ,or a million dollars, to enjoy my life and the people in it.
For example, for someone who throws parties for a living I don’t entertain in my own home that often. In fact the last time I had people over for an occassion was Thanksgiving. The reason I don’t have people over is because I think my apartment is too small.I always tell myself “I’ll entertain more when we have a house with more space and the kitchen of my dreams”. When everything is “perfect”.
Then I got to thinking, when will that be? We don’t have any immediate plans to purchase a home. It could be years before we buy the house I think would be suitable for entertaining in. So does this mean, that until then I shouldn’t have people over? That I shouldn’t enjoy the space I am in now? Of course it doesn’t, but that’s exactly what I’ve been doing. I’ve notice other people are doing it too. Saying oh, when I get a bigger house I’ll entertain, when I loose 20 pounds I’ll take that trip to Hawaii. In the mean time life is going on. While we are waiting for things to be “perfect”. The sad, thing is we are missing out on so many of life’s great moments while we are waiting.
I decided that I am going bloom in my apartment. I am planted here for the foreseeable future. There is no reason why I couldn’t or shouldn’t enjoy my home, and share with the people I care about. This spring I’ve started projects around the house to spruce up the joint. Make it a place I really enjoy living in and eventually entertaining in. I’ve already come up with some fun ideas for parties (that is my job after all).
I encourage you to do the same. Who cares if your not in your dream home. The important thing is the memories you make while your there. You don’t need a big house or yard to have a few friends over after work for a small cocktail party; or to host a fun game night. The point is to make the most of where you are right now in your life. To make memories, have fun and really live. Not just waiting to start living. So I hope you will join me in blooming where you’re planted!
