It’s October and while most of our thoughts are on Halloween costumes and parties. I want to talk about Christmas. It seems far away but it’s coming up sooner than you think. However, of all the upcoming holidays it is the furthest away. Which means you have more time to prepare. Here are few things you can work on in the upcoming weeks to help with a Merry Christmas.
1. If you’re planning on throwing a holiday party select the date and notify your friends and family before the end of October. Everyone’s calendar fills up in December with parties and activities. The early bird gets the worm or in this case the early bird gets the guest! If you want to make sure that people show up for your gathering give them plenty of notice. Even if you can’t bare to think about the details of your Christmas party right now; just by setting the date and reserving your spot on everyone’s calendar, is a huge step in the right direction.
2. Start working on those Christmas cards. Save yourself from the mid December panic of trying to order and mail out your Christmas cards. A lot of card printing companies offer discounts for ordering your cards before December. So why not hop online in the next few weeks and create your Christmas cards. If your planning on taking a family portrait for your cards. Now is an excellent time to book your session with a photographer, before they get busy later on in November and December. Lastly go to the post office and get your stamps now and avoid the holiday lines at the post office later.
3. Buying Christmas presents. We all have that “friend” who is done with all their Christmas shopping by Labor Day and it’s annoying. But getting your shopping done before December is a good idea for a few reasons. 1. You don’t have to battle the lines and crowds at the stores if you start shopping now. 2. If you buy a few gifts a month Christmas shopping doesn’t hit your wallet as hard. 3. Not having to gift shop means you have more time for fun things like baking cookies, attending Christmas parties, watching a Christmas movie or any other fun holiday activity.
These are just a few tips that will help you check off a few items on the old Christmas to do list.
